The Semogue 1470 shaving brush is made with Semogue's well known 100% natural boar bristle hair, offered with a natural wood handle.
All Semogue brushes feature a metal ring as a hallmark of uncompromising quality; the ring is there as an added measure to hold the bristles in place snugly. This fine brush is totally made by hand from start to finish. The handle is hand turned by a skilled woodsman and later is hand sanded one by one. Then, the knot is made by the master craftsman using the traditional methods passed by past generations to provide the most wonderful brush.

Boar bristle is most often the choice of those who desire the greatest scrubbing action from their brush. This boar brush has got a strong backbone which is highly desirable when used with hard soaps like Mitchell's Wool Fat, Edwin Jagger & Haslinger Soap. Superb for its exfoliating properties, boar bristle remains the most popular alternative to badger.

5 years and still going strong

This is my main shaving brush and it has served me faithfully for around five years of almost daily use (face lathering). I only bought another one to act as a backup in case something happens to the first one. I've tried other boar brushes and some synthetics as well but this one seems to be best for me. It would regularly lose one of two bristles per shave in the beginning but after a while it settled down and now I virtually never encounter shed bristles. This does not appear to have affected the volume of the brush at all.

Pros: Excellent price. Good construction leading to long lasting product. Holds water well (unlike synthetics). Perfect size for face-lathering ( especially when working around beard/moustache elements that you want to keep).

Cons: Just a little too short to allow bowl-lathering in slightly deeper mugs. Will hold the smell of your shaving soaps ( this is actually a plus unless you frequently switch up your soaps and don't like the cross-contamination of scents ).

Pop the bristle-end in a mug to soak while you have a shower (making sure to keep the handle clear of the water when soaking ). It will be ready to go when you jump out. Great brush and amazing price

Very nice brush

I love the finish on the handle, and the build quality is very nice. The brush has worked well for me, but I do not have another to compare to. It builds a good lather, and feels good against my skin. Some bristles have been lost, but it does not seem like an excessive amount, and has not been an issue yet.

Very happy.

Having had my Made in England bristle brush for 15-20 years I had forgotten what a real lather was like(apart from those that my wife accuses me of getting into from time to time). The old one has gone out in the rubbish and the new one has pride of place. Will keep in touch with your Company as a possible source of presents for our 4 Grand children-- all boys --good for your business. Cheers Bob Mainland
