The Semogue 620 Excelsior shaving brush is made with Semogue's well known 100% natural boar bristle hair. Offered with an acrylic "Vintage" transparent and black handle.
All Semogue brushes feature a metal ring as a hallmark of uncompromising quality; the ring is there as an added measure to hold the bristles in place snugly. This fine brush is totally made by hand from start to finish. The handle is hand turned by a skilled woodsman and later is hand sanded one by one. Then, the knot is made by the master craftsman using the traditional methods passed by past generations to provide the most wonderful brush.

Boar bristle is most often the choice of those who desire the greatest scrubbing action from their brush. This boar brush has got a strong backbone which is highly desirably when used with hard soaps like Mitchell's Wool Fat, Edwin Jagger & Haslinger Soap. Superb for its exfoliating properties, boar bristle remains the most popular alternative to badger.

Note: Natural animal bristle brushes will have a slight odor when new; this odor will disappear after after a dozen or so uses. Also, boar brushes need about 15-20 uses to 'break-in', you will notice a huge improvement after a month of daily use.

Semogue 620 Excelsior Boar Shaving Brush

This is firm, but not too firm. It draws the water up first time, and any excess is easily 'flicked' out. You can use this brush like a shoe polish brush and transfer shaving soap from the soap cake to your face, and then whip up a lather. Or whip up a lather on the soap or in a separate bowl. Either method, it works well. Could not fault it. And price was good too.

The Power of Pig

Nicely presented and ecologically packed Boar Brush. Excellent bristles with the right amount of elasticity to generate a great foam and soften the beard bristles to boot.. Early days, but nice brush!

Nice brush!

Quick delivery and will packaged.

I generally use hard soaps and prefer boar to badger. I have a nicely worn in Omega 48, which I love, but during the winter months it can take a long time to dry, so I was looking for something with shorter loft / smaller knot that will dry quicker.
This brush has good backbone, is great for face lathering and OK for bowl as well. It was fairly soft out of the box, but I expect this to improve as it gets run in.
Very little smell on it initially, nice heft and comfortable acrylic base and looks to be well made.
I'm not a big fan of black banding on boar brushes (if I'd wanted a badger I'd have bought a badger) that aside, quite happy with this brush and will be in regular rotation over winter.

Great Boar Brush

A quality boar brush from one of the great brush makers - Semogue.
Mine hasn't shed a single hair and with a little bit of use the tips are softening up nicely.
More backbone than my horse hair brush, this allows a good lather to be worked up on harder soaps.
Completely happy with this purchase.
As usual great service and turnaround time from Fineshave!
