The Henson AL13 puts an end to shaving irritation and cuts, while also making your skin feel comfortable and smooth. Henson created this razor to give you a whole new shaving experience, unlike any other safety razor.

The MEDIUM version of the AL13 has slightly more blade exposure and a wider blade gap than the Mild AL13. This allows it to handle thicker and longer hair. That said, it is still considered a gentle and more comfortable shaver compared to other safety razors.

We think it's best for :

  • Normal Skin to Slightly Sensitive Skin
  • Any type of Beard (finer to thicker hairs)
  • Provides an efficient shave that is smooth and comfortable
  • Very forgiving razor (meaning, little mishaps might not end up in nicks)

  • The Medium AL13 is a great choice in most cases, perfect to replace a multi-blade cartridge razor
  • For very coarse beards or shaving once a week, the Aggressive version might be a better option if you're after a very close shave

  • All Henson safety razors are compatible with any standard double-edge (DE) razor blade
Our suggestion is a medium to sharp blade like Astra SP, Gillette Nacet, Gillette Platinum, Kai, Dovo, Feather, ...

Designed and manufactured with extreme precision in mind. Henson has applied aerospace processes to achieve remarkable low tolerances on critical dimensions through the machining and anodizing process.

The blade support creates the most accurate blade exposure on the market, which means you can be ensured that each razor holds the blade at the correct angle and gap to give you the perfect shave.

Manufactured in the same facility that produces components for the Mars Rover and the International Space Station, this razor is durable and should last for many years of worry-free shaves.

What this means for you is a noticeably better shave that just feels different. It truly is one of a kind.

  • Latest Version with softened edges and added bevels
  • Lightweight - easy to control

About Henson: A Function First Approach To Shaving. These days, it feels like many product design choices (especially around shaving) are made from a profit-first position. However, at Henson, every aspect of our design was chosen because we felt it was the best for the function of shaving. Not for profit. We then leveraged our 20+ years of aerospace machining experience to make it.

Do you recommend this Product?: Yes
A great shaver and prolongs blade life

I was recommended this by the owner of fineshave after I was finding i was getting through blades every 2-3 shaves. This product gives a good, yet gentle, shave and I think because of this my blades are now last 4-5 shaves now. The shape of the shaver kind of forces the correct angle you need to have the shaver against your face; and if you have poor technique, like me, this is a very useful feature.

SUPER smooth, but even the medium is too mild

I was super excited to get my Henson, and I've really tried to like it... but I just can't get a clean shave with it. It's great to be able to go over the same spot five times without causing irritation, but even after trying different blades it's just not holding a candle to my other razors. May be perfect for someone with a fine beard, or shaving elsewhere - anywhere comfort is more important than the shave.

Well made and great to shave with

I moved away from DE razors to single edge ones (Gem) for a while, as I found myself preferring the stiffer blades. This razor has won me back. It’s very well made, and as advertised the tolerances are very close and do support the blade very well right up to the shaving edge.

It’s super easy to shave with and very comfortable on the skin. It has a very specific shave angle, but this is intuitive to figure out. Certainly efficient enough, with two passes giving me a very satisfying shave (I have coarse hair and slightly sensitive skin).

The design rinses clean easily and doesn’t clog while shaving. So far the black finish has held up well too. I’d highly recommended this razor to both beginners and experienced users.

Absolutely fineshave

This is for me going back in time, where we used these type of razors.

Must say this is one way better than what I have ever used.

Buy one now!

Fantastic razor, worth every dollar. Two weeks of use and still no rash or razor burn, wish I’d bought one years ago.

Well worth the money

Light weight, easily cleaned and feels smooth on my face. I will never go back to disposables again.

Impressive Razor

I purchased this razor with mixed feelings initially, however the reviews I read gave me enough encouragement to buy this. Certainly, it is not the cheapest razor on the market and the well established English and German brands, Edwin Jagger, Merkur, Muhle etc. I admit to having a fascination with double edge razors and I admit to having several examples/models of the mentioned brands plus some less well known ones. Each and every razor I own has unique qualities, some are gentle but do not shave well, some shave very well but also at times remove some skin if I become a little too casual toward them!
Upon first examination the Henson is well made, finely machined and finished, my one is finished in jet black anodising. It is lightweight but the lack of heft belies its ability. The precision threads on the handle and head combined with the tungsten bushing makes assembling this razor a pleasant, refined experience. The head of the razor flexes the blade considerably, and the blade exposure is very minimal, Henson offer the razor in mild or medium aggression choices, this razor is the medium model.
Henson claim this razor "puts an end to shaving irritation and cuts, while also making your skin feel comfortable and smooth."
This Henson razor has impressed me from the very first shave. I am using Derby Extra blades in it and the shave is close but without the feeling of risking a cut at any moment. Even shaving against the grain goes well, my skin is usually sensitive to this final pass direction and often produces irritation with other razors. Henson have certainly not overstated their claim, "...an end to shaving irritation and cuts ...making your skin feel comfortable and smooth." It is a very mild and forgiving razor yet produces an excellent final shave. I would recommend this razor to anyone who wants to put away their electric razors or throw away their multi-blade disposable razor that uses exorbitantly expensive multi-blades and get back to the shaving experience our fathers and grandfathers enjoyed.
