I bought a puck of Fine Accoutrements Classic American Blend soap few years go, and really loved its scent (inspired by YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme) and performance. When I saw this RazoRock American Barber soap appeared on the On Sale list, I thought I would get myself another YSL RGPH scented soap, since there was only a thin piece of Fine puck left enough for just over 10 shaves.
Well, the two soaps actually smelled fairly different to my untrained nose. I must say that I liked the Fine's take of YSL RGPH re-creation more. RazoRock's version smelled really nice as well, just a little heavy on the powdery note, but still a very well done barbershop scent. Since I have not personally ever sniffed the real YSL RGPH, I could not judge on which was actually the more "accurate" re-creation.
This tub that I received was not of the latest lanolin formula as described on the webpage here, but of the previous tallow base, but it did not matter, since all RazoRock soaps delivered outstanding results, no matter which soap bases they came in. While the final performances were almost indistinguishable based on my personal experience, I did somehow notice that the tallow based RazoRock soaps lathered a tad faster than the latest lanolin super formula soaps.
