Muhle’s “Companion” razor got a mixed reception, mostly from people who’d never used one but were sure it was “all wrong”. But I think this is an excellent razor for the purpose: well thought through and beautifully made.
The weight of the unit is pleasing - solid but not excessive, and the balance in the hand is pretty much ideal. The blade tabs are fully covered, which is great if it’s to be used in areas like underarms where exposed tabs would scratch. It’s a 3-piece razor: a stainless steel handle with good grip from a “fingerprint” pattern engraved into it, and a 2-piece head (satin finish chromed Zinc alloy) which fits together with impressive precision. The cord, which can be used for hanging and looped around a thumb or finger to avoid dropping the razor during use, is nice soft cotton cord and easily replaced (or removed, if you don’t want to use it).
This was a gift for my daughter (she was fed up with grotty disposable razors and having to bin loads of plastic!) and she seems well pleased with it too.
