I just finished my first shave with this beauty and I am extremely impressed. Wow. My previous razor was the Muhle Neo R89, which was doing a pretty decent job, but the ROCCA, combined with a feather blade was the closest, easiest, irritation free shave I have ever had.
I experienced a huge jump in efficiency, without any real learning curve after using the milder r89. Don’t be scared by some reviews (possibly from earlier rocca versions) which suggest it is too aggressive- they have nailed a razor that is very efficient, but very smooth and intuitive to use.
It is nicely weighted and because of its efficiency you can use the weight of the razor and not apply pressure, which resulted in a completely irritation free shave. I was prone to some irritation and occasional breakouts, but it seems this razor is so good at its job that might be a thing of the past. Oh…. And it is gorgeous. Lovely to behold and to hold. Get it.
Went to the shop to asked on how aggressive this were and the owner's assessment is right, about a 4 Rockwell base plate. Knowing this i went and brought a lesser aggressive blade, Muhle blades. But still ended up going back to the feathers blades cause unlike the Rockwell the Rocca gives me a lot of Control and feedback.
With the Feather blades the Rocca gives me a close shave without irritating my skin unlike with the Rockwell with the setting of 4 cause the Rocca Control is just superb.
Switched from a straight razor to this after five years. I can get a superior shave from this with no knicks or bumps with a quarter of the focus that a straight razor takes and in much less time. This is a high quality razor, looks fantastic, feels solid in your hand. Definitely a razor to last a lifetime.
I am new to de shaving and this is my first razor. Am very happy with it. After a few days of getting used to it, I find it very comfortable and smooth. I look forward to my morning shave now.
