I have a Wahl DE razor that is too mild for my liking, but I love the handle, so this was a no brainer. My beard is very normal but I do like a close shave. This was a perfect match. There is a lot of blade feel, which is to be expected. I had read enough about the R41 to know not to use any pressure, just the weight of the razor and make sure of my angle. I used an Astra Green blade on it's third use so as not to push my luck. No need for a Feather with this. It only took a few passes to get the hang of it and I had a very close shave with no nicks. Now to kiss my wife :)
Bought this head which fits onto my Edwin Jagger razor to get a more aggressive shave. It's a beautiful looking piece and definitely more aggressive but still manageable. Makes my razor look amazing and a great, much closer shave.
Was a step up from the R41.
Only need to do one pass with the grain, to get the same result as I would of had to do in two passes with the r41. Am very happy with it
I started off with a closed comb razor head and was having a hard time of it, turns out I have rather coarse stubble hair, after I attached it to my Muhle handle and used it the difference between this and a closed comb was night and day, it really makes the razor do the work and produces a very close smooth shave in little time, best to get a little practice with a closed comb first as it is not as forgiving.
Worth every cent.
I currently have this head on an old Gillette handle and use it to shave each morning in the shower.
I use Palmolive shower milk as the shave soap lathered up in my hands and spread on my face.
This razor using a feather blade, provides a quick and effective single pass shave, I can feel exactly where the blade is and despite it's reputation I have not cut myself. This is up there for shaving convenience with my old Gillette flat bottom tech.
A direct replacement that works well.
