Used to use a safety razor years ago until the supermarkets stopped stocking proper blades in favour of stocking the 3000 latest fads in cartridge razors.
This razor gives a vastly superior shave to those "look-it's-got-twenty-three-blades-and-six-chemically-infused-strips-and-it's-a-pretty-colour" trendy monstrosities.
For a start, there's the weight - not heavy, but you can feel it in your hand and the weight of the razor against your skin is sufficient to position the blade to cut the hair.
It's less wasteful of resources - doesn't contribute to the mountain of plastic waste created every year - and it doesn't contaminate the skin with dozens of chemicals that cause rashes and allergic reactions.
The quality of build is superb - it's a precision tool rather than a cheaply-made-yet-expensively-priced piece of cast plastic.
Bought this as I’d heard that Safety Razors give better shaves and caused less irritation. Did a bit of research and decided this was the best quality for a beginner like me.
The product is as good as described and reviewed online. Excellent quality, feels robust and durable, assembles and disassembles easily and tightly. The design is great and the short handle feels comfortable.
First shave with it was great, no irritation or cuts. Was a little anxious about inserting and using the blades. But was easy to use and have a great shave that will only get better with practice.
Would also recommend Fine Shave, great products they’re clearly passionate about. Quick delivery and excellent communication. Will be getting all my stuff from them

well, after 18 months or so with the Henson ++ (medium) I thought, why not have a change of shaver. Purchased this and just completed my 3rd shave 5 minutes ago. Henson is in the drawer now, haha. Nice weight shaver, lovely finish, handle is a tad bit smooth for me as others have mentioned in reviews. This is now my razor for the next couple of years at least. paired nicely with a Gillette Saloon blade, mild for my sensitive skin. You will not regret purchasing this shaver.
Very simple and easy to clean. Nice textured handle which provides a good grip. My last razor broke due to a complex mechanism getting jammed up and snapping, I doubt that the simple 3 piece of this will meet the same fate. Simple, robust, easy to use. What more do you want from a safety razor?

Extremely well made, very user friendly. Perhaps my old razor handle was too aggressive... it cut you if you looked at it wrong. The R89 is the complete opposite, you would have to actively try and get it to cut you, very new-to-safety-razor friendly.

Awesome quality with a nice weight to it. Great for the first time safety shaver offering a mild shave with low chance of nicks and cuts. Used with Astra blades.
Pleasantly surprised by the shave I got. Less skin irritation than using cartridge blades. Using a moisturiser before the shave helps and letting the weight of the razor makes for a better shave.

This shaver has given me a very comfortable and satisfying start to DE shaving. The weight of the shaver feels well balanced so that each shaving stroke uses the weight of the shaver itself rather than risking applied pressure from my arm. The 3-part assembly is easy to unscrew after each use for thorough cleaning and blade replacement. This product is easy to use and forgiving for those new to DE shaving technique.
This is my first safety razor, after using it for a while now I would recommend it for daily use no matter the sharpness of the blade (Feather, Kai or Voskhod) it won't cut up your skin.

It's too early to comment on the quality of the razor, but the speed of the delivery was excellent and I enjoyed the little packet of Mentos they snuck in there with the razor.
