The Henson AL13 puts an end to shaving irritation and cuts, while also making your skin feel comfortable and smooth. Henson created this razor to give you a whole new shaving experience, unlike any other safety razor.

The MILD version has slightly less blade exposure and a smaller blade gap than most other safety razors. This allows for a very mild and smooth shave, even with sensitive skin.

We think it's best for :

  • For 'Very Sensitive Skin' it's best to use some pre-shave products to have that extra layer of protection
    (pre-shave oil hydrates the skin & protects it from cuts, while pre-shave cream softens the beard)
  • Thicker Beards or shaving every few days requires a few extra strokes with the Mild AL13,
    the Medium or Aggressive version might be a better option if you like a close shave or have a coarse beard

  • All Henson safety razors are compatible with any standard double-edge (DE) razor blade

Nice shaver

Nice shaver, a lot smoother shaving experience as no razor edge grabbing and tugging on hairs in comparison to my shick Quattro. It still has a sharp edge even after a half a dozen shaves later. Depending on your skin condition it may bite a couple of times but otherwise. Happy azz!

Great intro to the world of safety razors

I’m a safety-shaving newbie at the fresh age of 42, but I can say this is all I need it to be, and all I hoped. I’m Mediterranean so with my dark bristles this isn’t the closest possible shave, but it’s close enough! I have quite sensitive skin so I didn’t want to start with the aggressive variant. I had to get used to the complete lack of flexure, coming from skinny multi-blade disposables, but that was a very quick adjustment.

Excellent product.

This shaver shows researched design, and those huge gutters allow easy whisker wash-out. I use Somersets oil, and shaving is now a measured, pleasurable art. As clean as any 27 blade gimballed high tech thing with pricey replacement heads, and will last a lifetime with readily available cheap blades. The diamond cut grip is also great for better control.

Love the shave

I have been using Defender cartridge razors for ages. And for what they were, i was happy. Until now. Thanks to Fine Shave you can get the AL13 in NZ without the huge shipping costs (been trying to get one for months)!
The AL13 is great. I have a quick growing thick stubble and this gets a mirror shave nearly every time (still in learning mode). I have tried the RK blades and the Feathers. The Feathers are good but may be a tad too agressive.
Now, I have no experience with other razors so can't compare. But I struggle to see how any other razor would improve on this in any material way. Because I haven't had the experience of weightier implements before the AL doesn't bother me. I might have taken the Medium in retrospect but again I don't see how it could improve that much.

Best safety razor I've ever owned.

To be fair...it's also my first! Generally I've used cartridge razors, and more recently a straight edge (cut throat).
The Henson is excellent, more or less idiot proof. Gives a very smooth shave with little chance of nicking. Highly recommended.

Yes its light but it's also great.

It's hard to find a review that doesn't mention how light this razor is (it is), but it hasn't made me change my technique or mind. It's a great looking smart razor, it can stand up on it head so when you put it down the handle is easier to grab. Glad I got the mild as it's a plenty close shave.
